Cardiac Catheterization Tech

Regular Full-Time 901 West Main Street, Freehold, NJ CentraState Medical Center
[ Overview ]

Performs a variety of services to Cath Lab patients including technical and patient care as they relate to Invasive Cardiology.

[ Responsibilities ]
  • Operates computer and radiographic equipment for image production and archival.
  • Ensures procedure set-up, patient prepping, and restocks procedure room.
  • Sets up electrical and hemodynamic transducers.
  • Calibrates, obtains and records angiographic data.
  • Assists in arterial and venous blood sampling.
  • Works collaboratively and mentors new staff.

High School Diploma Or Equivalent Required

Graduate Radiologic Preferred

Additional Educational Requirements

High School diploma or equivalency, and graduate from an approved school of Radiologic, Cardiovascular, or Cardiopulmonary Technology program.


Work Experience:

1 Year Cardiac Catheterization Required

Additional Experience Requirements

Current cardiac catheterization experience of 1-2 years required or equivalent combination of relevant education or experience.


Licenses and Certifications:

State license Required

ARRT Certification Required

RCIS Preferred Or

RCVT Preferred

Additional Certification/Licensure Requirements

Or eligible to be certified.


Required Knowledge and Skills:

Basic knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, radiographic exposure, physics and hemodynamics. BLS and ACLS certification required.

[ Physical Demands ]

Working Conditions:

Works in a sterile environment with exposure to sick or injured patients and radiation.



Daily potential for exposure to blood and/or body fluids.


Physical Demands:

Kneeling/Stooping – Rarely

Bending/Climbing – Rarely

Reaching above shoulder, at waist or below waist – Rarely

Lifting/Pushing or Pulling over 40 pounds – Occasionally

Typing/Filing – Rarely


Additional physical requirements:

Wearing 25+ pounds of lead covering.
