Manager Facilities Management – Construction

[ Overview ]

Under the direction of the Director Facilities Management, is operationally responsible for coordinating activities of the Building Services Department. Works within the department to operationalize the department’s service goals and objectives.

[ Responsibilities ]
  • Coordinates maintenance, construction and renovation projects for the facility performed by the Maintenance staff.
  • Monitors and coordinates a variety of preventative maintenance and building and property repair and improvement projects (including construction project management) performed by vendors and contractors.
  • Reviews and evaluates existing methods, systems, programs, practices and procedures.
  • Develops and recommends changes to the Director. Implements or guides implementation of new and/or modified methods, systems, programs, practices and/or procedures.
[ Qualifications ]

Education

  • Associates degree or equivalent courses related to management skills and facilities management

 

Work Experience

  • Minimum of five years maintenance experience required, preferably in a healthcare institution
  • Project management experience necessary
  • Previous management experience preferred

 

Required Knowledge And Skills

  • Ability to read, comprehend, and transmit complicated detailed instructions, both written and verbal
  • General understanding of electro-mechanical equipment and basic knowledge of building trades, carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical repairs required
  • Must be able to meet deadlines

Working Conditions

Normal hospital environment with frequent exposure to sick or injured patients.

Exposure

Some exposure to extreme degrees of heat, noise, dust, dirt and patient areas requiring the use of universal precautions.
