Overview

Performs ultrasound procedures under the direction of a Radiologist. Responsible for mentoring and training students in a cooperative learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for examination.
  • Performs Ultrasound procedures according to professional standards and policies.
  • Reviews images, documents completion of case, assembles images, requisition and file jacket for delivery to Radiologist.
Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma Or Equivalent

Additional Educational Requirements

Graduate of an AMA approved school for diagnostic sonography.

 

Work Experience:

Related Experience Preferred

Additional Experience Requirements

Previous experience post-training preferred.

 

Licenses and Certifications:

ARDMS or ARRT certification or eligibility Required

CPR or BLS Certification Required

Additional Certification/Licensure Requirements

Must maintain CE requirements and CPR certification.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team.

Physical Demands

Working Conditions:

Works in a normal hospital environment with exposure to infectious diseases and radiation. Must rigidly observe monitoring and safety procedures to avoid overexposure to radiation.

 

Exposure:

Daily potential for exposure to blood and/or body fluids.
